  • Wild Atlantic sea scallops
  • Neutral oil or melted butter
  • Sea salt
  • Fresh cracked black pepper
  • Optional: lemon wedges
  • Optional: fresh herbs (parsley, chives, or thyme)
  • Baking sheet or oven-safe baking dish
  • Parchment paper or lightly oiled surface (optional)
  • Paper towels
  • Tongs or spatula

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F (218°C).
  2. Pat scallops completely dry with paper towels.
  3. Lightly coat scallops with neutral oil or melted butter.
  4. Season with salt and fresh cracked pepper.
  5. Arrange scallops in a single layer on a baking dish or sheet with space between each piece.
  6. Bake for 1–2 minutes per side.
  7. Check for doneness — scallops should be opaque and tender with slight softness in the centre.
  8. Remove immediately to prevent overcooking.
  9. Optional: finish with lemon juice, fresh herbs, or a light brush of butter.
