Ingredients & Materials

Buy Albacore Tuna Now
  • Wild Albacore Tuna
  • Neutral oil or olive oil
  • Sea salt
  • Fresh cracked black pepper
  • Optional: lemon wedges
  • Optional: sesame seeds or simple seasoning blends
  • BBQ grill (gas, charcoal, or pellet grill)
  • Grill brush
  • Paper towels
  • Tongs or fish spatula

Instructions

  1. Preheat BBQ to high heat (450–500°F / 232–260°C).
  2. Clean and lightly oil grill grates to prevent sticking.
  3. Pat albacore tuna completely dry with paper towels.
  4. Lightly coat with oil and season with salt and fresh cracked pepper.
  5. Place tuna onto the grill.
  6. Sear for 1–2 minutes without moving.
  7. Flip carefully and cook another 1–2 minutes depending on thickness.
  8. Remove when internal temperature reaches 115–120°F (46–49°C) for rare to medium-rare.
  9. Rest briefly; residual heat will finish cooking.
