Ingredients & Materials

Buy Atlantic Scallops Now
  • Wild Atlantic sea scallops
  • Neutral oil or butter (or combination of both)
  • Sea salt
  • Fresh cracked black pepper
  • Optional: lemon wedges
  • Optional: fresh herbs (parsley, chives, or thyme)
  • Heavy pan or skillet (stainless steel or cast iron recommended)
  • Paper towels
  • Tongs or fish spatula

Instructions

  1. Pat scallops completely dry with paper towels.
  2. Season lightly with salt and fresh cracked pepper.
  3. Heat a heavy pan over medium-high to high heat until very hot.
  4. Add a small amount of neutral oil or oil-butter mix.
  5. Place scallops in the pan with space between each piece.
  6. Cook without moving for 1–2 minutes until a golden crust forms.
  7. Flip gently using tongs.
  8. Cook another 1–2 minutes until opaque and tender.
  9. Remove immediately to prevent overcooking.
  10. Optional: finish with butter, lemon juice, or fresh herbs.
