Crispy Ocean Perch

Golden, flaky, and perfectly crispy, this Ocean Perch recipe brings the fresh taste of the sea to your plate. Serve with a squeeze of lemon and your favourite dipping sauce for a simple, satisfying meal.

For an extra light version, try baking instead of frying.

Ingredients (serves 2–3):

  • 1 lb (450 g) Ocean Perch fillets, skin removed
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 large egg, lightly beaten
  • ¾ cup panko breadcrumbs
  • ½ tsp smoked paprika
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter and 2 tbsp oil (for frying)
  • Lemon wedges, for serving

Instructions:

  1. Prep the fish: Pat fillets dry with paper towels. Season lightly with salt, pepper, and smoked paprika.
  2. Set up dredging station: Place flour in one shallow bowl, beaten egg in a second, and panko in a third.
  3. Coat the fillets: Dredge each fillet in flour, shake off excess, dip in egg, then coat evenly with panko.
  4. Cook: Heat butter and oil in a skillet over medium heat. Fry the fillets 3–4 minutes per side until golden brown and crispy.
  5. Serve: Remove from skillet and drain on paper towels. Serve immediately with lemon wedges and your favourite dipping sauce.
