Cooking Reccomendations
Thawing
- Overnight: Place the chowder mix in the refrigerator to thaw slowly and evenly overnight.
- Quick Thaw: For a faster option, keep the sealed bag of chowder mix submerged in cold water for about 30-45 minutes until thawed.
Cooking (Classic Seafood Chowder)
- In a large pot, melt 2 tablespoons of butter over medium heat.
- Add 1 diced onion, 1 chopped celery stalk, and 1 chopped carrot. Sauté until softened, about 5 minutes.
- Add 2 cups of cubed potatoes and 4 cups of seafood or vegetable broth. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and let simmer until the potatoes are tender, about 10-15 minutes.
- Add the thawed chowder mix to the pot, stirring gently. Season with salt, pepper, fresh thyme, or a bay leaf to taste.
- Pour in 1 cup of heavy cream (or milk for a lighter option), and let simmer for an additional 5-7 minutes, or until the seafood is cooked through and the chowder is warmed.
- Remove from heat, garnish with chopped fresh parsley, and serve with crusty bread.
Enjoy the taste of the East Coast in every spoonful!
