Very tasty
I had a friend from Alberta in for supper.
Pan fried the cod in butter and salt and pepper only. She could not get enough.
She”d had cod before but not anything as scrumptious as this.
Almost out did your scallops. Needless to say we had a large fish fry that night. Happy full bellies and great fish stories
We love the Black Cod. Fresh and tasty with a great texture. We also love that the pieces are of uniform size and shape so that they all cook evenly. This is particularly important when cooking multiple pieces at a time.
We find they key is to to thaw them in the refrigerator overnight until they are completely thawed. Then drain them, patt them dry completely, and if possible, let them rest on some paper towels in one layer in the refrigerator until cooking time. They turn out perfect.
Will definitely order again.
Wasn't sure how to cook it, but I started with skin down and fried in a bit of olive oil, covered for about 5-7 minutes, then flipped it. Oh , I used Panko first. It was delicious.
We have never tasted this fish before, but this is truly a wonderful fish and we are reordering!

Frequently Asked Questions
How does shipping work?
We ship using insulated boxes and dry ice so your seafood arrives fresh frozen. Even if a courier is delayed, the dry ice is packed to last an extra 24+ hours. Estimated delivery dates are provided at checkout and you do not need to be home for delivery. You can request a delivery date by leaving an order note.
Where do you ship?
We deliver across most of Canada. Check your postal code here.
You’ll also see available delivery dates at checkout based on your postal code if we ship to your area. If you run into issues, reach out to our team at crew@larryscatch.com.
Is your seafood frozen?
Yes. All of our seafood is flash-frozen right on the boat or shortly after landing. This process locks in freshness, flavour, and nutrition, making it the next best thing to eating seafood straight from the ocean.
What happens if my box arrives thawed or damaged?
If something arrives thawed or you notice any quality issue at all, just reach out — we’ll happily replace it or refund you.
Where does your seafood come from?
We work directly with trusted Canadian fishers and processors, focusing on wild-caught, preservative free and sustainable products.
Is this a subscription?
Your choice! You can choose one-time purchase or subscription (default) before checkout.
Can I customize my box or leave a delivery note?
Yes! You can send a note to our team by replying to your order confirmation email with any notes.
How long can I store the seafood?
Keep it in your freezer for up to 6 months to maintain top quality. For best texture, thaw in the fridge overnight and cook within 24 hours.
