Cooking Recommendation
Cooking Recommendation
1. Thawing (Optional but Recommended for Best Results)
• Refrigerator Method (Preferred): Place the frozen snow crab clusters in the refrigerator for 8-12 hours before cooking to thaw them slowly.
• Quick Thaw Method: If short on time, place the clusters in a bowl under cold running water for 20-30 minutes until thawed.
2. Boiling Method
• Fill a large pot with water, leaving enough room for the crab.
• Add a generous amount of salt (around 1-2 tablespoons per gallon).
• Bring the water to a rolling boil.
• Place the crab clusters in the boiling water and cook for 4-5 minutes, or until heated through.
• Remove and let them cool slightly before serving.
3. Steaming Method
• Fill a large pot with about 1-2 inches of water and bring it to a boil.
• Place the thawed or frozen crab clusters in a steamer basket or directly into the pot (elevate them with a rack if necessary).
• Cover and steam for 5-7 minutes for thawed crab or 10-12 minutes for frozen.
• The crab should be bright red and piping hot when done.
4. Grilling Method (For Thawed Clusters)
• Preheat the grill to medium-high heat.
• Lightly brush the thawed crab clusters with olive oil or melted butter.
• Place the clusters on the grill, shell-side down.
• Grill for 4-5 minutes, turning once, until heated through and slightly charred.
• Optionally, baste with more butter or lemon juice for added flavor.
5. Baking Method
• Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
• Place the thawed or frozen crab clusters on a baking sheet.
• Cover with aluminum foil to prevent drying out.
• Bake for 10-12 minutes if thawed, or 20-25 minutes if frozen, until fully heated.
Serving Suggestions:
• Serve with melted butter, garlic sauce, or lemon wedges for dipping.
• Enjoy as part of a seafood boil, surf and turf, or alongside your favorite sides like corn on the cob and potatoes.
